Supply chain management in China, from supplier to production line.

We procure and manage your component supply across the full chain, then bring it into our facility under strict incoming QC. One accountable partner, instead of a dozen factories to chase.

Total Production Control

We take the headache out of raw material management.

When you engage Shield Works for manufacturing or assembly, we procure and manage every component your product needs across the full supply chain. You get peace of mind and total production control, without communicating with multiple discrete Chinese factories yourself.

We hold your sub-suppliers accountable for quality and lead times, shielding you from the friction of international component procurement. Everything funnels into one facility, one inspection regime, and one point of contact.

New Supplier ID

Finding a supplier you can trust is the first problem.

Sourcing from the Far East can be a risky business. With only a website to go on, there is no way to tell a well-run factory from a back-street sweatshop, and no way to know whether what comes off the line will match the sample you approved.

Our supply chain management team selects and assesses the supplier best suited to what you are building. We make sure your requirements are properly understood, weed out the unsuitable and the incapable, then monitor and inspect production so the quality of the items made actually matches the sample.

You end up with your own experienced team in China overseeing the order, and clear of the three things that catch most importers out: low-quality goods, poor communication, and unexplained delivery delays.

The same applies to complex products drawing components from several suppliers at once. Building and running those multi-source networks has been core C2W Group work since 2005.

Quality · Price · Speed

We understand the QPS equation.

From experience, without “eyes and ears” on the ground you will be doing very well to achieve two of the three variables in the QPS mix. We are here to make sure all three are met first time.

  • Quality

Built to the specification and checked against an approved golden sample, not against a promise made over email.

  • Price

Authentic domestic pricing, negotiated face to face in Chinese, without an agent margin added on the way back to you.

  • Speed

Lead times that hold, because somebody is standing in the factory on the day the schedule starts to slip.

We hold a database of established, audited suppliers we already know to be reliable, and use what you tell us about the product to work out which of them fits the criteria you have set. Within a short space of time we can usually tell you whether they are capable of meeting your needs, and send photos and samples over for your evaluation.

Once you have approved the samples, we arrange production and hold quality control across the manufacturing run. A constant presence on the ground is an incentive to the manufacturer that you simply cannot apply from your home base.

Supply Chain Management

Engineers across the disciplines your product actually needs.

Our manufacturing team is drawn from a wide range of engineering disciplines. We assess each project and select the most suitable facility for your quantities and target prices, then work with that factory under a full project management service, reporting progress and problems back to you as they happen.

Manufacture of any product will never be plain sailing, but most problems can be solved with good communication.

The C2W Group has been based in the Pearl River Delta, China's manufacturing hub in Guangdong, since 2005, with engineers working across the country. That time has built a long list of trusted facilities, audited by our own engineers both socially and for quality, whose processes we have improved and who are used to working the way we work. Through them we can move your manufacturing to China, or move it within China to improve quality or take out cost.

Managing Your Existing Supply Chain

Already have suppliers in China? We can take them over.

If you have a stable, long-term China supply chain already in place, Shield Works can step in and take over the daily supplier management and component purchasing. That brings your existing chain into closer alignment with our final assembly and warehousing, and it hands you back the time to do what you would rather be doing: building your brand and selling your products.

One dedicated English-speaking Shield Works project manager covers all of your China supply, which keeps communication simple and takes risk out of the chain.

Included As Standard

On every managed order.

As with all Shield Works managed orders, our core supply management services are inclusive as standard.

Production schedule management

Every PO is linked to a detailed production plan, issued after you submit the order and then monitored and updated through the run by your dedicated Shield Works project manager.

The plan sets out each key step in the manufacturing process and the critical QC date attached to it, through to container loading, dispatch and delivery, so the destination end can plan against real dates.

Order production contracts

Each PO you place is converted into a factory PO. Before any money moves, a full production contract is drawn up directly with the factory covering delivery dates, quality requirements, payment terms, and pre-agreed penalty clauses for delays or quality failures.

Original copies are held at our Zhuhai HQ and are available to you on request.

Order quality control

Production is monitored with a full-time QC presence in the factory where the order warrants it. The onsite quality engineer reports directly to you throughout, covering the day's manufacturing issues as well as general progress.

That is backed by two to three visits per order from the quality engineers at our parent company, the C2W Group, timed to the initial, mid-point and final QC stages. If problems arise and further trips are needed to close the order out, they are made at no additional charge.

C2W establishes and maintains detailed QA/QC plans for every product variation, defining the production processes, factory workflow, and both internal and third-party checks. All quality records are stored at HQ against the production batch, giving full traceability back to product in the field. More on quality inspection and testing.

Independent lab testing, where required

Where a product needs it, independent lab testing runs as a QC step through production to keep material composition and test records current against the agreed specification.

The product QA plan defines which tests apply and how often. Samples go to independent testing facilities and results come back to you by email on completion, referenced in the final QC report.

Order financial planning and control

We organise payments to the factory directly, which keeps transfers tied to production quality and to the signed order contract rather than released on trust.

We negotiate on price, watching exchange rates and raw material movement so both stay in line with the terms you agreed, and can help open up credit terms as your volumes grow.

End to End

From your suppliers to your assembly line, accountable throughout.

Because we manage the suppliers, inspect components on arrival, and build under one roof, accountability is never passed around. Pair supplier management with incoming and in-process quality checks, and consolidate multi-source orders into single, managed shipments.

Frequently Asked

Supplier management, answered.

Do you source components, or only assemble what I send?

Both. We can procure and manage your full component supply through our vetted network, or build with parts you supply. Most clients have us manage the components so there is a single point of accountability from raw material to finished unit.

How big is your supplier network?

Through our parent company, the C2W Group, Shield Works has direct access to an established network of 550+ vetted and audited suppliers across China, spanning plastics, metals, electronics, and packaging.

Do you audit the factories you use?

Yes. Suppliers are verified on the ground for capability, ISO status, and ethical compliance before they are added to your chain, and held accountable for quality and lead times throughout.

Can you negotiate better component pricing?

Our local presence and combined volume let us secure authentic domestic pricing directly with factories, rather than the opaque markups that come with sourcing through a remote agent.

Do you manage tooling and sample approval?

Yes. We manage the back-and-forth of tooling iterations and golden-sample sign-off so production begins from an agreed, documented benchmark.

What is incoming QC (IQC)?

All components are shipped directly to the Shield Works facility, where they undergo strict incoming quality control before entering our lines. Defects are caught before they are built into your product. More on quality inspection and testing.

Can you manage suppliers I already work with?

Yes. If you already have a stable China supply chain, we can take over the daily supplier management and component purchasing rather than replace your factories. You get one dedicated English-speaking project manager for all of your China supply, and your existing suppliers come under the same production planning, contracts, QC and payment control as everything else we manage.

What is the QPS equation?

Quality, Price and Speed. Managing a China supply chain remotely, you can usually secure two of the three and will lose the third. Our position is that having your own team on the ground is what makes all three achievable on the first run, because someone is there to inspect the goods, negotiate the price in Chinese, and see a schedule slipping before it costs you a shipment.

Do you handle payments to the factories?

Yes, on managed orders. We organise factory payments directly, so transfers stay tied to production quality and to the signed order contract. We also negotiate on price, monitoring exchange rates and raw material costs against your agreed terms, and can help open up credit terms as volumes grow.

What happens after I submit a brief?

We look at your bill of materials and component requirements, assess fit, and reply to most enquiries within 24 hours. If it looks like a fit, we review the project in detail and issue an NDA where needed, then set up a call to confirm fit before we come back with a plan for how we would source, qualify, and manage the supply. All work runs under a paid engagement. Submit your project brief.
